Our youth team, affectionately know as "The Apprentices", have been working hard over past few months, replacing sleepers on the No. 1 loco road between the Loco Shed and the Station. The boys have been growing in numbers over the past year and have had some great opportunities to work with different team members across all aspects of the railway, including how to replace sleepers and fix guage. What an amazing weekend. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support this weekend in celebrating the opening of the Cooma Monaro Railway Museum. We've had over 500 people through the museum over the weekend with people travelling from across the state to be here. A piece of history returns to the Monaro

It was with great pleasure that we welcomed Councillor Lynda Summers to Cooma Railway Station this morning to return an important piece of railway history to the Monaro. Lynda was recently able to acquire the original Nimmitabel - Bombala Staff Box from a private collection and has generously loaned the box to Cooma Monaro Railway for display in our museum. The Staff Box, originally located in the Signal Box at Nimmitabel Railway Station, was an integral part of daily train operations for almost 100 years. It's with great pleasure that we announce the public launch of Cooma Monaro Railway Museum at Cooma Railway Station on Sunday, 11 December in conjunction with our December Fresh Produce Markets. To celebrate the launch, the museum will be open from 9.00am to 4.00pm with FREE entry for the whole day. PROJECT UPDATE | Railway Institute Building

It's been a couple of months since work commenced on the restoration of the Railway Institute Building and it's full steam ahead. Over the past two months, our volunteers have been busy preparing the exterior of the building for restoration, including: 🔹 Removal of the old timber sleeper retaining wall to be replaced with a 3m high concrete cast-sleeper retaining wall that will also create the footing for the visitor walking path. 🔹 Removal of the old tennis court fencing to be replaced with new poles and fencing. 🔹 Removal of the old pine awning that will be replaced with [...]

Today was a huge milestone in the development of the "Travel for Pleasure" museum at Cooma Railway Station with the installation of the first of many interpretation panels. These panels will grace the walls and display plinths in the museum, telling the story of railway travel in NSW. It's been a long time coming and they look absolutely amazing. We can't wait to open our doors and share this amazing work with everyone. We're currently finalising the last pieces in the exhibit and are looking forward to announcing our opening date very soon!
